About

Hello. My name is Michael and I am a 30 year old designer in NY. I write a lot of random notes and ideas to myself, most of which, make up this site.

My Philosophy

In this day and age, I believe that openly sharing ideas is crucial to our survival. Innovation is constantly being crippled by patent squatting, copyright lawsuits and the overarching sense of entitlement that people have towards their own ideas. It’s like the kid in middle school covering up his work with his whole arm, as if to defend from the battle of Helm’s Deep. I say be free, be open, always ask “what if”, and don’t forget to play.

This is why I’d like to share as many ideas as I can, for as long as I can. Please feel free to contact me with any thoughts or questions, or if you’d just like to start a dialogue.

The Daydream Engine

I daydream – a lot. There is where I attempt to turn random thoughts into something more tangible. I mainly focus on art, design, fatherhood, philosophy, and the WTF’s of life.

Michael Yi Design

This is more of the professional work that I do to help individuals and small businesses. Simply put, people have big ideas and I just help them get it off the ground.
